I did a revisit to Matthiesen Park in Utica, IL. This time, my wife and my father-in-law came with. We should have been wearing water proof boots, but had a great time anyways.
- Matthiesen has two canyons. this is an overview of the canyon we hiked.
- Stairs we crossed to get in the canyon.
- Fence preventing you from falling down a waterfall into the other canyon
- Gives an idea how high the canyon walls are
- That’s me facing the camera, my father-in-law looking away
- Another view crossing the stone path
- It’s great how close you can get to the dam
- Great pic of the stone wall
- People carve their name in the stone wall. Where’s an environmentalist when you need one?
- We’ve found a comfortable place to eat. Well, for a little while, anyways.
- My wife and her father sitting on a natural edge in the stone wall
- My wife and her father standing in what looks like a large tear drop inside the stone wall
- Yeah, where is the path to walk on here?
- These stones were not comfortable to cross
- This is the first waterfall we came across
- We had to walk across the first waterfall
- This is the other waterfall we saw
- This pond has a lot of algae. Want a sip?
- This is a shot down the other canyon. I finally have a camera thet can sort of capture depth.
- We had to walk back up these to get to the car…
